if i leave my heart with you tonight promise me that you're gonna treat it right. | The day was absolutely gorgeous. After her torturous wedding gown fitting earlier with her less than pleasant eldest brother and her calm and relaxed brother, Siegfried, it was wonderful to escape the interior of the palace to the gardens with her more tranquil brother. Amalric, though she adored him, was hardly the answer to soothing the irritation she felt during the dress fitting that was far from necessary.
Regardless, she was outside now and that frustration and impatience was melting away to her normal demeanor. She and her brother passed beneath a long, tunnel-like trellis covered in ivy and rose vines with the palace behind them. Once through the passageway between the court and the expansive gardens, the two of them stepped into a world of flowers and bushes and trees as far as the eye could see. The stone pathway was bordered on either side by neatly manicured hedges separating the path from the flowerbeds. Trees, both fruit bearing and flowering, bordered the path at regular intervals and provided shade from the heat of the sun. Through the center of the garden, there was a stream no more than a few feet wide that ran directly through the garden and a small bridge gave pedestrians passage to the other side.
She had eagerly changed from the sea of white gowns into one with dark teal trumpet sleeves and outer skirt, soft blue inner skirt, corset, and sleeves. Her servants pinned her soft blonde hair up and jewels decorated her hair, a necklace around her neck.
“That was less than pleasant,” Dalia said, referring to the dress fitting. “Where does mother come up with these ideas anyway? I don’t even have a suitor.” She sighed as she tilted her face toward the sunlight, walking beside her elder brother. The young lady hoped that her brother would find a way to distract her from her frustration of the dress fitting. It had taken a few hours for her to find one that she liked and every minute of it was made infinitely more difficult by Amalric. For now, though, she would have to find it sufficient to merely walk alongside her brother and enjoy the outdoors and gardens.

[ t h e r e I s a q u e s t I o n f o r a n s w e r s a n u n q u e n c h a b l e t h i r s t ]In The Burning Heart The Unmistakable Fire[ I n t h e d a r k e s t n I g h t r i s i n g l i k e a s p i r e ] The moment they stepped out into the gardens he smiled and took a deep breath to enjoy the fresh smell of flowers. It was good to be out of the castle form time to time, especially since Siegfried was given more work than usual the older he got. He looked back at the door form which they emerged and sighed, he wondered if Almaric would make a god Duke, he loved his brother but it was hard when so much pressure lied upon your shoulders, well, never mind that, he would be by his brother’s side to help him if he wished him to. You could say Siegfried was selfless, completely devoted to his family and those in need. His eyes looked up at the sky as the sun shone upon them, it caressed the grass giving it shades of gold and as they stepped on the soft moist grass he smiled and closed his eyes, feeling the remains of the morning freshness, surely these were moments to savour in the company of his beloved sister. He blinked for a moment before he turned to look at her.
Now that the sun shone upon her it made her look like the very image of the beauty the sunlight would have were Dalia the personification of the morning rise. Her golden hair played with the shade and the light of the sun alongside the several gems that made her even lovelier. Yet it saddened him to see her like that, constantly in pain for what their parents made them do. They walked in silence for a bit, until they were far enough form the caste, as much as Siegfried liked talking to his family, he tried avoiding them getting hurt if he could, and right now Dalia was too angry to consider that, she felt offended and at the same time frustrated trying on clothes suitable for a wedding with no knowledge on what their mother was truly planning to do.
He smiled as they reached a path of flowers of various colours and fragrances and thought it best to interrupt their silent walk and engage into conversation, to ease his sister and make her smile once more. “Do you remember when we planted all these daisies and those purples roses along the tunnel, you were so eager for them to grow and cover this path, you would come every morning to measure them and see if they had grown ever since you planted them.” He chuckled, and now that small sister was a young woman, it was shocking how fast time passed. And it never waited for you.
He turned to look at her earnestly, “I know how much it pains you dear sister, but if you would ever have me to anything to ease the pain and see that lovely smile on your lips again, please tell me.”
“That was less than pleasant… Where does mother come up with these ideas anyway? I don’t even have a suitor.”
As they sat by the fountain Siegfried placed a beautiful lily on the water and watched it move along as the water fell on cascades, he sighed and said looking back at his sister, “I am uncertain, she has been acting strange lately. If you would like me to, I could talk to her, and see why she is so eager to have you dress like that. Who knows, I could get her to see that this is not the path you wish to follow, that you would like to walk at your own pace. She is after all our mother.” He moved a lock of hair form her beautiful face and kissed her forehead, “You are the joy in my heart Dalia; do not let these situations upset you.”
As he looked at the trees and the vast extension of the garden he smiled, an idea came up as he smirked and after stretching his arms lazily that idea would certainly brighten his sister’s mood. Her attention turned to the white flowers beside the path and the delicate roses climbing to the top of the trellis. More of her stress melted away as she recalled the memory he referenced. Dalia nodded, the faintest of smiles on her face. “That seems so long ago. I had almost forgotten.” She gingerly stroked the petals of a rose before looking back at her brother. “I am surprised you remember.”
She quietly followed Siegfried as they made their way out of the tunnel to the gardens, the fountain in particular. Dalia sat on the edge of the fountain, her posture perfect and the very image of a proper lady.
Before sitting down himself, Siegfried plucked a lily from the garden. “I know how much it pains you dear sister, but if you would ever have me to anything to ease the pain and see that lovely smile on your lips again, please tell me,” he said as he set the blossom on the slightly turbulent water of the fountain. His gaze turned to her with a sigh. “I am uncertain; she has been acting strange lately. If you would like me to, I could talk to her, and see why she is so eager to have you dress like that. Who knows, I could get her to see that this is not the path you wish to follow, that you would like to walk at your own pace. She is after all our mother.” When he brushed a lock of hair out of her face and kissed her forehead, she smiled a bit and leaned into his side, resting her head against his shoulder. “You are the joy in my heart Dalia; do not let these situations upset you.”
“Have I mentioned recently about how much I love having you for a big brother?” she asked after a few moments’ pause. Dalia sighed quietly. “I just wish… I don’t know, I wish that mother would stop being so secretive. If she is so eager to marry me to someone, I wish I wouldn’t be blindsided.” She moved her head so that her brother could stretch his arms and noticed that he was smirking wickedly. “What is it?” the young lady asked, curious.

He smiled watching her stroke the flowers, “I hold dear all the memories that present the time we spent together in the past, they grant me joy and patience when the tide is high.” He sighed for a moment and added, “Sometimes I need motivation to keep going, to be the person our parents wish me to be, and to help those in need.” His eyes turned to look at her as he admitted, “You are all the motivation I could ever wish for.” She was the only sibling that understood him, that shared her thoughts with him and who supported him no matter what. She could see within him, and did not judge him for his decisions like some of their siblings did.
Looking up at the sky the sunlight was powerful it was warm and invigorating. He smiled and considered hew as lucky for having her around, surely his life would be miserable if Dalia had not been part of this family. She was also intelligent and they often held discussions about topics that few would expect two persons as young as them to talk about.
He smiled when Dalia leaned to his shoulder and he embraced her, still looking at the bright sky and the occasional white clouds moving along with the wind. They sat in silence for a moment, and though no word came out of their lips they were in constant communication, either through their eyes or intuition. They had always been close siblings, and were playmates.
“Have I mentioned recently about how much I love having you for a big brother?”
He smiled at her words and said, “You have no idea how it pleases me to hear that, your judgment is pure wisdom.” He was a modest and humble young man though, he never believed himself to be better than others nor did he think he was a warrior and a model brother. But it was nice to hear that some persons thought he followed the correct path, at least that implied he was doing something correctly.
“I just wish… I don’t know, I wish that mother would stop being so secretive. If she is so eager to marry me to someone, I wish I wouldn’t be blindsided.”
He sighed, she was right. He kissed the top of her head before allowing her to move away, “She des tend to obsess over strange matters but do not worry, she cannot simply marry you off like that, you have to feel ready and that you wish to accept whichever candidate pleases you.” His face was slightly more serious now, “However, I trust you will be as honest to me as we have been to each other all these years, if you feel uneasy about a candidate do tell me, I am capable of opposing our parents if I must, but I could not have you be an unhappy person. You deserve all the happiness in the world Dalia.”
“What is it?”
He smiled, apparently she had noticed. He grinned and said, “Nothing, there is absolutely nothing going on in my mind.” As he spoke a hand slowly moved toward the water in the fountain, but in a way that Dalia could not see, and just as he stood up slowly he slashed a bit of water at her, not too much, but enough to send her squealing and standing up in sock. He had always done this and the trick never failed.
He laughed and then, while she entertained drying her face he hid behind a tree. Not too far form her, it was a rather small tree but it would have to do. He sneakily looked through the edges of the tree trunk, trying to see if Dalia was now looking for him. The game was on. Sometimes I need motivation to keep going, to be the person our parents wish me to be, and to help those in need. You are all the motivation I could ever wish for. You have no idea how it pleases me to hear that, your judgment is pure wisdom.”
She smiled softly to herself at her brother’s words but made no comment. He knew that she would appreciate such high praise, especially coming from him. Dalia didn’t need to voice her gratefulness for his honest words. To respond to him, she wouldn’t even know where to begin.
“She does tend to obsess over strange matters but do not worry, she cannot simply marry you off like that, you have to feel ready and that you wish to accept whichever candidate pleases you. Their mother was certainly being headstrong and enigmatic the past few weeks and it wasn’t exactly easy for her. She didn’t bother to try to correct Siegfried. It was true Amalric and their mother couldn’t simply tell her who to marry, but they could make up their minds about who they want her to be with. Yes, she could input her own opinion, but if she refused or disagreed with their choice, her life wouldn’t necessarily be made easier should they insist. In regards to marriage, men had it much easier. It was still a comfort, however, that Siegfried would support her. Dalia kissed his cheek. “Thank you, brother.”
“Nothing, there is absolutely nothing going on in my mind.”
Siegfried was very clearly lying to her; she could tell by his tone and the way he moved. Dalia was about to mention—teasingly of course—that nothing was ever going on in his mind. Before she could speak, however, she got a face full of fountain water as her brother leaped up and fled. As with the times before this, she vowed that she would never allow him to catch her off guard again. She jumped to her feet and wiped the water off of her face. “Siegfried Maulesel!” she yelled after him idly—he would know by now that she was far from furious with him no matter how well her tone conveyed otherwise. Locks of her golden hair were plastered to either side of her face by water. “You will pay for your treachery!”
Lady Dalia, no longer in the guise of a faultless lady, bolted after her brother and, despite the angry-sounding words, she was smiling. She ran in the direction her elder brother had disappeared. The game was on.

[ t h e r e I s a q u e s t I o n f o r a n s w e r s a n u n q u e n c h a b l e t h i r s t ]In The Burning Heart The Unmistakable Fire[ I n t h e d a r k e s t n I g h t r i s i n g l i k e a s p i r e ] Her blooming smile was the best of gifts. It not only indicated how much she liked his company but also her understanding. If the rest of the Maulesel household could not comprehend Siegfried and his motives to be the person he now was, Dalia was more than enough; she was his support and the one reason he survived up to now. She was his stronghold to take any enemies that might present in any possible way. They were each other’s confidant and aid whenever the burden was too great. And they would always be this way, there was no possibility anything in this world could stop that. He laughed softly for a moment, realizing the happiness she made him feel, he only hoped he could contribute to her own happiness and protect her against any enemy that might arise with time. And even if he had to stand against their parents he would gladly do so. Unless Dalia found a man she truly loved then he would support her decision, otherwise he was capable of facing their angry parents and elder brother if he had to.
It was positively unfair for them to toy around with Dalia’s feelings when she deserved far more than they could offer. Siegfried saw all as equals, women included, perhaps that was too advanced for his time but he thought it cruel to stop Dalia from choosing her own path in life. He was victim to his parents’ lack of vision and would not allow his tender and innocent sister to suffer the same treatment. He placed a beautiful wild flower on her golden tresses of hair, which made her even lovelier. He only prayed she would chose wisely, when the time came, and love touched her heart. “I must say dear sister, if you ever decide to love I will support you, but I forbid you to ever forget about your silly older brother, Siegfried,” he winked at her.
“Thank you, brother.”
He smiled when she kissed his cheek but felt there was no need for more words. Sometimes they were unnecessary and could ruin a moment as beautiful as this one, when a brother promised to do his outmost best to protect a most beloved sister, the gem of his family. Her looked into her eyes for a moment, just as he used to when he was but a boy, and she was a baby, “Sometimes it is difficult to believe that my baby sister is already a beautiful young Lady.”
“Siegfried Maulesel! You will pay for your treachery!”
He could not stop himself from laughing loudly at her words and threats and as he noticed she was running close by, he jumped behind her and embraced her whispering in her ear, “Lovely Dalia, were you looking for me?” He chuckled and added after kissing the top of her head, “I seriously doubt you would ever manage to even catch me, you are simply not fast enough.” He looked up at Beon as it perched to a tree, “However, I daresay I can easily find you, no matter where you may be.” If she dared challenge him he would gladly oblige. Post by Jonos Frey on Jun 23, 2012 15:19:23 GMT -5
Jonos had been trying for weeks to get into the palace, the eyes he had in the palace were starting to become skitish. They feared the arm of the exacutioner, swinging his blade down on them. He had to admit, the maulesel family had found loyal guards or he had found the wrong kind of eyes for the palace. He needed to know the layout for future plans, during his days in the military he had few chances to come to the Maulesel palace. So unlike the royal castle, he knew very little of its interior. Condsidering the Maulesel family was over the city, it was best to know this information.
It had been a week and still he found no one who would be his eyes in the palace, he had decided if he couldnt find someone. He himself would do what was needed, taking nothing but simple clothes and a knife he set out. Jonos had choosen to watch the front gate from an alleyway. He knew he couldnt scale the walls, it was to dangerous. Instead he had a better idea in mind, he would pose as a guard and would be granted free entrance.
Jonos waited hours for the right opportunity to make his move, and fate had graced him. A single guard had been relieved of his duty at the gate, and made his way home. Jonos slipped ftom the shadows of the alleyway, blending in with people in the streets. Stalking his prey like a wild animal he manuvered himself closer to the guard, staying on his tail never losing sight of him. As the guard turned down an alley, Jonos saught it to be his moment. Following his target down the alley, he quickly sprinted up behind him. Brining his knife into the back of his skull, stabbing at an upward angle from the base of his neck.
Jonos was a skilled killer, he'd learn many thing about the himan body. During hid time at war he'd met many kinds of warriors, all had something to share on the subject of killing. This was one such move he had learned, quick, clean, and instant. As the body of the guard went limp in his arms, Jonos held its weight. Arms placed under the bodys pits, he drug it to place the lifeless corpse against a wall. Jonos then began the task of exchanging clothes, the leather garb was somewhat tight. The roughspun wool shirt and pants were, itchy and rittled with tares.
Lacing up his boots on the body, he gave it one last thorough look over. The hood fit big, but that was normal for the look of a drunk beggar. He had created the illusion perfectly, a sleeping drunk whose had his fill and could not make it home. He also checked him self, making sure all was in place. His concealed dagger in its rightful place, the guards sword at his hip. The blade its self was a bit on the dullt side, but he would make due. Giving one last glance at the corpse of the former guard, he shook his head turning away. Exiting the alley making his way down toward the front gate, he felt odd wearing the colors of a nobles house.
It brought back memories of his military days, in service to the crown. The way people looked at you with uncertain eyes, not knowing if you were one of the kings "good" men or an honest man. He once took pride in being one of the kings honest men, yet .now he was the sworn enemy of the royal family and many lords. The rebels war had only began, the true test of battle was to come. Things would soon change, and the city would be in shock.
Arriving at the entrance he simply nodded to the guards, " good day." The guard to his left smiled waving him through, it was easy when you dressed as one of their own. Every step he took, the way his body moved were all the mannerisms of a soldier. He was dressed the part, an acted the part perfectly. Moving through the inner workings of the lavish palace, he observed every inch of every hallway. Jonos had a photographic memory, being able to memorize things in great detail.
Jonos had paused at an entrance to a balcony over looking a garden, laughter and the yelling of a name interested him. Siegfried, walking slowly on to the balcony, he eyed Sieg the man he had fought weeks ago. He seemed to be at play with a sibling, she was a sight to behold a woman of beauty. Jonos grinned as he watched them play as children do, hide and seek oh how the game had began indeed.

if i leave my heart with you tonight promise me that you're gonna treat it right. | Her running suddenly ceased when he trapped her in his arms. In return, Dalia elbowed her elder brother in his ribs. While she wanted him to feel it, she didn’t think she used enough force to harm him. She would never want to harm her brothers no matter how irritating Amalric was being. His ignorance of all things woman was no reason for him to be hurt in any way—unless she was the one tormenting him. If any of her brothers deserved to be on the receiving end of someone’s ire, it certainly wouldn’t be Siegfried. Instead, she would merely roughhouse with him by playfully elbowing him for startling her.
He started it, after all.
“Lovely Dalia, were you looking for me? I seriously doubt you would ever manage to even catch me, you are simply not fast enough. However, I daresay I can easily find you, no matter where you may be.”
Dalia scoffed, tipping her head back to rest on his shoulder so that she could look up at him. “You couldn’t find me without that bird of yours.” Her eyes were both knowing and playfully accusatory. “The last time we played that game, you cheated.”
Yes, she had the nerve to accuse her chivalrous brother of foul play. But she also knew that she could get away with such accusations. She knew that her brothers, Siegfried in particular, held her in high regard. The young woman grew up idolizing her elder brothers and only stopped trying to best them in any competition because her mother had forced her down the road of femininity and being a proper lady.
That wouldn’t stop her from relapsing into the days of trying—and oftentimes succeeding—to keep pace with the boys in her life.

[ t h e r e I s a q u e s t I o n f o r a n s w e r s a n u n q u e n c h a b l e t h i r s t ]In The Burning Heart The Unmistakable Fire[ I n t h e d a r k e s t n I g h t r i s i n g l i k e a s p i r e ] It was positively astounding the power Dalia had over her brother. Of course this was not a bad thing, for she brought out the best in him; if her family, Amalric in particular, thought that he wasted his life and abilities helping others... when such heroism was pathetic in their eyes, his sister showed understanding to his choices and supported him throughout. She knew Siegfried inside out and accepted his personality and the reasons he had for acting the way he now did.
Not only this; Dalia had made him forget everything that troubled his mind and he was even laughing now, enjoying his childish behaviour alongside his beautiful sister, the gem of the family. He grinned when he heard her approach, threatening him in such a way that would have probably sent anyone running with shivers down their spines.
Not Siegfried though.
He could not help it but to chuckle when she elbowed him once he embraced her. Although his leather armour and his body being used to hard training did not truly find that hit painful, he was certain Dalia could truly hurt anyone if her safety required it. And so he decided to play along and teased placing his hand on his chest, "Why sister, you hit with the strength of a typhoon".
"You couldnÂ’t find me without that bird of yours...The last time we played that game, you cheated."
"I cheated?" Siegfried looked down into Dalia's sparkling eyes and laughed before slowly letting go of her, "How can it be that my own sister doubts on the innate hunting abilities of her poor brother. Nay, I will not have it so, go hide dearest, for I shall find you with no help at all, in fact you can take Beon with you, that way he can ensure you do not cheat." He winked at her playfully and kissed her forehead.
He then placed a beautiful lilac flower on her hair which resulted her beauty even more. He then folded his arms across his chest and closed his eyes and said, "you have to the count of ten to hide and pray I don't find you.. One... Two... Three... Four..."
