Spring has come! Everywhere, green is growing from the ground and life seems to return to the people. It's been unusually warm with temperatures as high as the mid 80s but during the night time, it gets as cold as the low 60s. Thunderstorms are common so be sure to fix those leaky roofs!

Hello there literate roleplayers. Are you tired of bland Light vs. Dark plots, equine RPGs that all seem the same, and plots that don't affect your character?
Well we've got a surprise for you. At The Secret it's not just about good and evil. In fact, good and evil don't have a lot to do with things. No matter whose side you're on, you can be as nice or as cruel as you see fit. But if you live in the north you'd better be tough if you want to stay alive. Here's a summary of what kinds of characters you can make:
Southern equines: The Resistance. You like freedom and would rather be left to your own devices. Conquering is not really your thing, you just want to be left alone to start a herd. Weakland equines: The Captives. You keep your head down and hope you don't get beaten up too often. You dream of escaping to the south, but know you'll be killed for trying. Mostly mares live here, though there is a small number of stallions. They usually get beaten down the most so they can't rebel. Northern equines: Tartarus's Legions. You work for the mastermind, Tartarus, the one who blew the news about the object of power out into the open. You answer to his captain Atlas, and you spend your time fighting, bullying mares in the Weaklands, and training colts for the army. If you have any spare time you can gather a small herd. Haven of Hesperides: The Secret Keepers. You know not hate nor greed, and you live within the walls of the Haven. You may leave to explore, but other equines seem so different to you. You live in peace and philosophy, seeking knowledge and enlightenment. But you know what is brewing, and the battle will come to your doorstep even though they cannot break down the door.
We are also accepting staff applications for Moderators and Graphics Designers.
What's going on... ?
There was peace once, though by now it is but a distant memory in the minds of those old enough to remember. There was order and cohesion, and nothing to fear. The Keepers of Hesperides stayed within their walled Haven, and none disrupted their peace. There was always a rumor that an object of unspeakable power lay hidden within those great walls, but in time the rumor grew dull with age. But now a young stallion, maddened with greed, is gathering all the information he can about this mysterious object of celestial power. Flanked by the powerful drafts of the northern lands, he is murdering and taking prisoners left and right. There is only a handful of southern herds that stand against him, led by the mysterious Theseus. If they are vanquished, the Keepers will be on their own. Chaos and uncertainty abound. How much longer can the forces of reason hold off this madman?
The board is set, the pieces are in play. Whose side will you join?

A long time ago in a far away land, there were four brothers. They all were birthed by the same mother, but each had a different father. The brothers’ mother was a sweet, tender loving little mare, with royal blood on the inside. She was the ruler of Abraxia, an isolated land surrounded by an enchanted ocean like you’ve never seen before. This enchanted ocean makes for tough times, for once you enter Abraxia, it will pull you back in with its waves if you try to leave again. When the brothers reached maturity, their mother died. After her death, they took over Abraxia, dividing the lands into four completely different divisions: North, South, East, and West. Each brother took a direction and adapted to its terrains.
As of now, the four brothers live in peace, keeping their directions in order and fairness. Who knows how long this peace will last with the West brother’s harsh temper and the East’s brother’s lust for power, the South’s brother’s penchant for destruction, not to mention the rivalry between the East and the West? Even the Northern peacemaking brother may not be able to stop the inevitable.
Which direction will you choose?

a land of nightmares and dream-bringers... In the beginning, it was the mortals, and two forces, the Dream-bringers, much akin to angels, and Nightmares, who resemble demons. Mortals knew of neither existence, and Dream-bringers were intensely aware of Nightmares, but the Nightmare's didn't care about their existence. When a mortal slept, or just wasn't paying attention, a soft colored Dream-bringer would wonder over, and softly touch their muzzle to the equine, searching through memories to collect fragments for dreams. But, delve too deep, and a Dream-bringer could develop into a Nightmare. The mortal they delved into would die, of a heart attack, it seemed. The Nightmares were raunchy, half-decomposed beings who resembled horses more closely than the Dream-bringers, but their forms were disgusting, and smelled of rotting, roasting flesh. Their manes hung in languid ropes, twisted and matted. They did much the same thing as the Dream-bringers, but they inflicted nightmares. A mortal would never notice one of these ghoul's presence for some reason. A natural self-defense, it seemed. It was a nice touch and go, a good system of checks and balances.
In a place where the streets are running thick with wine, blood, scandal, ambition, and lust, events happen so quickly that rising to power one day and falling the next is expected. Sweet words, honeyed speeches, and purses of money might milk your way to the top, but one wrong move and it's all over. This is a place where one forges alliances to survive and where enemies can seem as friends until they stab your back. A place where lust and wine are entwined so quickly that marriages are made and dissolved in months. A place where the new child Caesar fights his own Senate for his power while trying to find those he can trust. Welcome to Rome, the Eternal City. Where will you go in such a place as this?
